Talking to myself

Last night I wasn't feeling very well, so I decided to go to bed a little earlier then I usually do. After a little bit (for reasons unknown) I got out of bed and thought it was morning. I put my work cloths on an get my lunch together. I sat down in my kitchen and look up at the clock... 12:13 am... For some reason I started doubting the clock and I thought to myself that it is in fact 6:30 am. I thought to myself this must be some kind of mistake... if I wait a minute I'm sure it will fix itself. Ladies and Gentlemen the conversation your about to read it was between me and the voice in my head!!!!!

Brain - "Seriously? That is the most reasonable available answer?" Progressive time needs a minute or two to catch up with you?"

Me - "It could happen given the right circumstances."

Brain - "All of which given your current circumstances which your in is equal to none. You have not some how drifted away from the time line of existence while you slept."

Me - "Remember that awful made for TV movie when people on a plane go back in time while on a plane. When the plane lands everyone who wasn't asleep dies and everyone who was now is ahead of everyone else in the spacetime continuum? Couldn't it happen then?"

Brain- "Well if you can't remember what makes you think that I do? Besides that was just a riff off of "The Odyssey of Flight 33" which was your favorite Twilight Zone episode when you were a kid."

*After that I went back to bed disappointed I had not found a way to escape time without the use of cryogenics.*

Well... I've been enjoying my being moved out.

Hosting the bi-weekly D&D game is just plan awesome. I really need a sofa though, other then that things couldn't get much better. We gamed for over 7 hours this last Thursday. We only stopped when we ran out of foods.

I'm getting really tired of Winter and Spring needs to get here like now! If I decide to buy this place then the first thing that is going to be replaced are the windows because this place can get drafty.

The Watchmen will be out next weekend, knowing my friends I'm sure we'll go see it.

So whats so great about Wolverine? Why did Wizard Magazine pick wolverine 1 out of 200 of the Greatest Comic Book Characters of All Time? Not to mention the first X-Men to get their own movie! What is it about this character that has gotten him his own comic book series for over 20 years (not including mini series)?

(Typical Wolverine comic cover in the 90's)

Personally, I think Wolverine is one of the greatest anti-heroes of all time. He doesn't get along with other super heroes (Wolverine made his comic premier fighting the HULK). For most of the series he's trying to piece together who he really is. He finds out that he was part of an experiment to create an "unstoppable" soldier. During this time he discovers that many of the memories of his past life are false.
Photobucket
Another reason I think Wolverine is one of the most popular super heroes is because he feels pain like a normal person and he's constantly fighting. If Super Man gets shot the bullet bounces off him and he doesn't feel it. If Wolverine gets shot he's dead until his healing factor brings him back to life. Needless to say I'm looking forward to the live action movie coming up in May. To me it looks like they are sticking to the comics as best they can.

Wow. I remember when these guys opened for Trivium just a year ago, and no one new who the fuck they were. Now they're touring with Metallica & Down and I think thats fucking awesome! Please take a minute and check out this band! (show highlights include: Iron Swan, Maiden, Mother & Crone, Barael's Blade)

DOWN
This was my second time seeing Down live. This one turned out weird. Firstly, I think Phil was in a weird mood. I say that because once every song Phil would start smacking the microphone into his forehead in rhythm to Jim's drumming. It was still a great performance, though. When Phil dedicated "Lifer" to the memory of 'Dimbag' Darrel there was a standing ovation. (show highlights include: Lifer, Bury Me In Smoke, The Path, Temptation's Wings)

METALLICA
Metallica needs no explanation!

Caught on Camera

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

On a (kinda) recent trip to St. Louis I was caught running a red light. I wasn't caught by a cop, I was photographed by a camera. The reason that I said that is because a cop might have just let me off with a warning after telling him/her just how utterly lost my friend and I were in this city. I also could have explained that we took the wrong exit because of there confusing highway that is a bit unforgiving to say the least. I consider my self to be a good driver. I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in over three years and I haven't been in any kind of accident in over four years.

I did run the red light (even though you can't tell I'm the driver in the picture), so I will pay the hundred bucks. I'm a little angry that I was not given the option of contesting this in anyway if I wanted to. This is coming from a person that has had to run a light to avoid being in an accident with a drunk driver. I'm surprised that there were no road signs notifying drivers about these cameras since many cities (like Cincinnati) don't have them.

On November 4th I'll get to vote to shoot down another attempt to put these cameras up in the city I live in. I'll probably mention that in the letter I'll be attaching to the check.

Halloween

I love Halloween! Its the only holiday I understood as a child (lol). Trick-or-Treating was just amazing in my neighborhood when I was a kid. I can still remember the haul of candies and the fist full of coins.. seriously how could you give a kid change instead of candy? But, there is one Halloween I will remember until I'm dead. That Halloween (when I was 6) is the year I helped my grandmother make my homemade Allosaurus costume! It looked great! However, every house I stopped at that year thought I was a Dragon, thus prompted me to give a little speech: "I'm an Allosaurus a predator from the Late Jurassic Period and clearly not a Dragon." That was probably the best Halloween I've had so far. I'm going to my first costume party this weekend so we shall see.

Why do you make some purchases online and others in-store? What ultimately prompts you to go in-store?

Some things are just easier to buy online when compared to going to a retail store. Its easier for me to buy concert tickets online then standing in line for the Ticketmaster at my local Kroger. I usually go "in-store" if I feel some sort of incentive to do so either the price is really good or I have absolutely nothing better to do. I've had some pretty sketchy experiences at some retail stores, though.

In nine days my amazingly sweet girlfriend will be in town. We will get to spend three whole days together. We plan on going to King's Island and the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden if anyone wants to double date just let me know. We'll probably try to catch a few movies too!

Hope you like the new look.

Hope everyone likes the new style of my LJ. This blog system isn't as customizable as Myspace, but more blog focused. I have to admit the background turned out better then I expected.

Tech Rant Part Two

I usually get criticized by fanboys when I post blogs like these. I’m no fanboy so my only advice to you is to stop reading my blogs. I’m only giving my thoughts and if you disagree that is fine, but don’t completely disregard the fact that this is my blog and I’m stating my opinion.

Last weekend I wanted to upgrade my one an a half year old MacBook. After going around town and finding out that none of the local Laptop specialty shops wanted to upgrade a Macintosh, I decided I should do it myself. I have to say its probably one of the easiest things I’ve ever done. I’ve never upgraded a Notebook before and I got everything right the first time. I added more Memory and a much larger Hard Drive. So next time someone says you can’t upgrade a Mac tell them.... Yeah you can. For good measure I installed Windows Home Edition on it. It was also very easy an works even better then when I run Windows on my Mac Pro. Since it works so much better I will probably get rid of Windows on my Pro.

As many of you know I got a Refurbished Mac Pro about two months ago. It still works great, but a few things have come up. First thing I noticed that the Mac Pro is the only Mac that doesn’t come with a built in Wireless Card. Its also one of the few Macs that don’t come with an Apple Remote or have an internal microphone. Also, running Windows was a bit clunky, I couldn’t find out why the internal and external speakers kept popping when I played music.

Most of my problems concerning the Pro have been remedied or successfully worked around. I took it to my favorite place ... being the Apple Store (dripping with sarcasm) which I found out was the only place to get the Airport Express kit for the Pro and even then it might not work. Luckily, it does work with mine though it took a few days of messing with it to get it to work properly. I bought a nice USB microphone. I can also get a Mac compatible remote control.

Feeling Like A Douche

I just want to apologize to my friends for basically being a wet blanket this evening. I'm sure most of you know I had a really shitty week. It started with me basically getting sick from sleeping in our drafty dark basement since there was no where else to sleep. I got one of my remaining two ridicules car insurgence bills from totaling my dads car three years ago. Then I had to finally throw half my shit away because of the Carpenter Beetles. Work sucked this week... because of all the previously made statements. I'm just tired.

Luckily, things are looking up. My amazing girlfriend will be in town in a few weeks. I'm no longer sleeping in the basement. I'm seriously looking for a house to buy with my buddy [info]arithon and in about a month I should get a decent raise at my work. So the worst is over.

Infestation

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

I came home from work today seeing my sister throwing her bags of yarn onto the back deck. I walked up an asked "whats up" she told me "we got a carpet beetle infestation". These little bastards lay eggs in your fabrics an eats whatever they want. So basically I need to wash all my cloths an throw out any fabrics that cant be washed (that has been infested). I had to throw out my mattress an box spring, two of my old chairs and my floor rug. I'm not putting the blame on anyone specifically.... even though it was entirely my sisters fault. I know about a month ago she hung a quilt to dry outside. I'm willing to bet one of these assholes hitched a ride. I'll be ok. In fact I finally tossed out alot of crap I've been meaning to get rid of for a while.

I'm getting my Macbook upgraded this weekend. Horray!

Lets think about this.

Over these last two weeks the Presidential Candidates have announced there picks for the Vice Presidency. Obama chose Joe Biden, McCain picked Sarah Palin. This election has had me wondering how important is the "Number Two Spot?" On both sides its made me realize that it is very important. In this case we have two candidates that might not make it to the end of there terms.

On the one hand we could have the first African American as President. Its hard not to see that there is still racism in this country. So its not out of the imagination that something could happen to him. If something did happen we would have Joe Biden as President. Joe Biden has a long history in the US Senate an has had exposure to foreign policy. An will make people more at ease for voting for Barack Obama.

Then we have John McCain, he is a 72 year old war veteran who has had 4 cases of Melanoma. He has chosen Sarah Palin whom has governed (at most) 7,000 people in the middle of Alaska where they have more rain deer then people. She has had no foreign policy experience. With that said she does bring a few things into the fold. She's pro-life, pro-guns, pro-killing the environment. Since she has been announced as McCain's VP Republican Women finally have someone to rally around.

My somewhat future

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

I've been thinking about moving out of my parents house. Since I already buy my own food and pay rent to them I figure the change wont be to overwhelming. The only problem is that the first person I approached about getting a place has really dragged his & her feet on this. I can't understand this because if anyone should be second guessing this its me! Seeing as Joe already owes me money for things that have happened several years ago, not to mention I consider him one of my least reliable friends. To his credit though since his son Paul was born he has acted more responsibly. But in factoring in Laura into this mess the scales are once again lopsided. Her mood swings are terrible at times an can be all around immature around people. Paul I've got no problems with I love babies and I consider him my nephew.

Thankfully, I do have other options available an so do Joe & Laura. Hopefully things will workout for the best for all sides.

Early Saturday morning I went back to the Kenwood Towncenter Apple Store. To no surprise there was a line of people waiting for the iPhone 3G. As I approached the entrance though I noticed another group of people waiting. It looks like they took my advice after all. When the store opened the crowed at the door was let in, and the people there for the iPhone were given vouchers and let in one at a time. I bought my awesome new Blue SnowBall Microphone an was in and out of the store in 15 min.

I almost expect to hear two random people give me an apology (looks around) or maybe not.

Well now that the craziness is over I'm ready to move on with my life (Horray). I saw the new Hellboy yesterday and The Dark Knight today with [info]arithon out of the two I would have to say that The Dark Knight was the better film, overall. Not that I thought that Hellboy II was bad, but a little suspense about Liz being pregnant (really pregnant) would have been much better. Other then that I liked the story the fight scenes were choreographed perfectly and the special effects were simply amazing! The Dark Night was just awesome hands down. Heath Ledger is neck in neck with Jack Nicholson's Joker.

Death to the Apple Store!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Yesterday, I made the mistake of going to the Apple Store. It was a mistake because yesterday was when Apple launched the new iPhone 3G. Since the last iPhone sold so well I figured that I wouldn't be to terrible to pop in just to take a look, pick up some software an leave. I was wrong. I was horribly, horribly wrong! I drove to Kenwood Towncenter (which is wear my local Apple store is) I walked up to the entrance an notice a guy standing in front of a velvet rope which blocked the entrance. I looked inside an noticed there was only about 8 people walking around in the store. I asked the dude what was with the rope and he pointed to the rather large line of people (which I had somehow completely missed) an told me that they were only letting people into the store a handful at a time. I told him "dude I'm just here for some software" he told me "it doesn't matter, there's a two hour wait just to get in". I must have looked pissed because that was the last thing he said. Honestly though I was laughing my ass off deep inside. I thought to myself how ridiculous this whole thing was. I mean I've never seen Best Buy or Circuit City do something like this (not on purpose anyway)! This made me realize just how obsolete the Apple Store is now. I mean CompUSA, Microcenter an Best Buy Sells Apple computers & apps for the same amount (if not less) as the actual Apple Store!

Before I left the Mall I had my hands washed by some Mediterranean guy. It was (supposedly) salt from the Mediterranean Sea. It worked (I'm still surprised how soft my hands are)! But it was far to expensive for me. After he told me they were $40 a jar I had to look at him an say "dude, I don't have the money to pay $40 for a jar of salt". After that he started the special offers and he also started hitting on me. The moral of the story is don't left a booth salesmen you don't know wash your hands an not expect to be hit on.

Wheres the Rock?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Demon
There's been an old trend reemerging with rock (especially Alternative Rock) music in the media lately. I've noticed that a lot of bands are selling out like crazy just before they break-up or before they go on a serious hiatus. I know bands need income when there not writing new material, but this seems a bit much. I just think its strange that (in theory) a band could make more money by breaking up an allowing their music to be played during a car commercial or a video game (or whatever) then if they had stayed together. I don't really care when the band is relatively new because then there only doing it for the exposure. It just irks me when established bands do it. Its like their saying to their fans "we'll its been great....now we're going to cash in on the songs you made popular so we never have to tour again"! I guess greed wins out in the end with some bands.

Music at Work

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

During my work day my choices of music stations are "Hick Pop" or "Urban Sound" (aka Country or Rap). I hate them both with an undying passion! I'm the only Metalhead in our department! So all I listen to all day is "Fuck the Police, Fuck the Police" or "She Just Loves Me For My Tracker"! The only Rap I can listen to is old school rap. You know before it turned into a joke to exploit black people. The only real country music I listen to is Willie, Johnny or Patsy and that is it. I can't describe the looks I get from my co-workers when I jam my earplugs into my head as hard as I can.

I'm a not closed minded person. My iPod is packed with Jazz, Chicago Blues, Classical, Folk and several other genres of music (especially Metal). So, its not that I'm not open to different forms of music its just that if I can't relate to it on any level...then I won't listen to it!
